The Italian Contemporary Film Festival

The ICFF (Italian Contemporary Film Festival) is back for it's fourth edition and I am excited to say I will be returning as their Social Media Strategist for the third year. Running from June 11th - 19th 2015 the ICFF showcases the best in Italian cinema right here in Toronto!

The lineup for this year's festival was released last week at the ICFF press conference held at the Ritz-Carlton Toronto.

Every year, the ICFF opens the festival with a drama and ends with a comedy. The opening film is the international premier of L'Oriana, starring Vittoria Puccini as Oriana Fallaci, an Italian journalist who risked her life as part of the anti-fascist resistance movement. Director Marco Tucco will be at the screening to discuss the film. The Opening Night Party will be held at Roy Thompson Hall. The closing film will be Sei mai stata sulla luna?, a comedy that will be introduced by Italian actress Sabrina Impacciatore. The Closing Night Party will be once again held at the Ritz-Carlton Toronto.

The most exciting announcement of the day - the room was really buzzing around this one! - was that Italian couple Roberto Benigni and Nicoletta Brashchi will be in Toronto from June 4-7th. In collaboration with TIFF, a few of their films will be screened with both actors in attendance for an introduction and Q&A.

Among the film announcements and celebrities attending this year's event, some other big news was that the ICFF has teamed up with TIFF and Cineplex to make this year's festival even bigger and better! The Toronto films will be screened at the TIFF Bell Lightbox, while  screenings in the other cities, Vaughan, Mississauga, Hamilton, Montreal and Quebec City will be shown at Cineplex theatres.

Lastly, the ICFF has opened their own box office this season located at 353 Adelaide Street West. Tickets for all feature films and shorts can be purchased there, online at icff.ca or at the TIFF Bell Lightbox.
